You don’t need steep climbs or hardcore trail to enjoy a great ride in the Fresno and Clovis area. For casual cyclists, fitness riders, and weekend cruisers, there are some excellent paved routes that combine scenery, smooth riding, and great places to stop for coffee, breakfast, or a post-ride snack.
Woodward Park & Lewis S. Eaton Trail — Riverside Riding at Its Best
One of Fresno’s best rides starts at Woodward Park and connects directly to the Lewis S. Eaton Trail, a six-mile paved stretch that follows the San Joaquin River Parkway.
This is the kind of ride that’s perfect for an early morning spin, a sunset cruise, or an easy recovery ride. Smooth pavement, gentle rolling terrain, and scenic overlooks make it one of the most enjoyable casual cycling routes in the Central Valley.
Start at the Art of Life Healing Garden and ride North through quiet stretches lined with native landscape, river views, and shaded sections that make the trail feel tucked away from the city. Stop at the River Center overlook, catch your breath, and enjoy one of Fresno’s most underrated outdoor spaces. Then make a left and ride down the hill along the San Joaquin River on a road that seems like your not in the middle of town. Nature and wide life fill the trail and head back to Woodward park to your initial destination. After your bike ride it is a must to stop by our famous lunch location Heirloom for lunch, perfect farm to table destination to end the ride!
For riders looking to add some fun, the free BMX jump area at Woodward Park is worth checking out—a great place to session jumps, work on bike handling, or just watch local riders throw down.
Sugar Pine Trail to Old Town Clovis — Coffee Ride Classic
If you like destination rides, start at the Sugar Pine Trailhead and head toward Old Town Clovis on this smooth, easygoing paved route.
This is one of the best adult casual rides in the area—long enough to feel like a workout, relaxed enough to enjoy, and built around one of the best rewards a cyclist can ask for: coffee and food.
Before the ride, grab breakfast at The Other Side Cafe or enjoy a sit-down meal at Osteria Orsa. Cruise the trail, take in the quiet surroundings, then roll into Old Town Clovis where the local atmosphere makes it worth hanging around.
Post-ride favorites:
• Kuppa Joy Coffee House — strong coffee, laid-back vibe
• La Boulangerie / La Parisienne Bakery — pastries, espresso, and a perfect recovery stop
